I designed this denim jacket with a panelled body, front and back yokes, a collar and stand, two-part sleeves, pocket flaps, cuffs and a hem band.

My white denim jacket on a mannequin, with open cuffs, striped elastic at the hem and pocket edges, and silver star-shaped buttons.
Striped elastic replaces the conventional denim finishing in my version.

My version

I wanted a white denim jacket for summer with a sporty 1980s character. When I ran short of fabric, I used striped elastic instead of the denim hem band, cuffs and pocket-edge finish.

Repeating that elastic made the change part of the design. Silver star-shaped sew-on buttons finished my version.
